Veg Out!!!

Brittany (right) and Sister collecting melons for the homeless

By Brittany Lintelman, age 14

My name is Brittany Lintelman, and I am 14 years old. I attend Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic School in Kentucky. My sister is Brooke Lintelman and she is 9. I would like to share my story.

About a year ago my sister complained of stomachaches all the time, and my mom took her to the doctor. Well, she had test after test done and nothing could be found wrong. My mother decided to cut out fast food completely. I, for one, love salads and fresh fruits and vegetables, so I said I could veg out anyway. Well, my mom decided to also cut out all fatty foods including meat. I even gave up my favorite pair of Birkenstock shoes, and boy, did that hurt, ha ha. Well, to make a long story short, my mom is now two sizes smaller than last year, and believe me that's saying a lot (size 2), and my little sis, well, she went down two sizes, too. They walk a lot. As for me, vegging out is a way of life now. I model part time and write poetry and draw in my spare time.

I hope this story is an inspiration to others that you don't have to be the same as everyone else - that is what makes us special. As for me and my family, even my little cousin Casey is in on the act. No pigs here (no pun intended). Oh well, the world according to Britt, Veggie Teen for life.

--Brittany Lintelman is a devout vegetarian and an honor roll student.
