Earth Day Every Day

Brittany (right) and Sister collecting melons for the homeless

By Brittany Lintelman, age 14

Have you ever thought of what you can do to save the earth? Well, my answer is by being a vegetarian - look at the stuff we could save - the planet! Think about it. Everything vegetarian comes from the earth: broccoli, cauliflower, fruit and all the vegetables. I think if all the vegetarians in the world went into McDonald's and asked for grilled vegetables the world would be a cleaner place. My mom asks all the time what is the soup of the day?

I also hate styrofoam, especially for fast food. Think about it. No more fries just grilled vegetables to go, in a red carton, how cool would that be, fewer calories and less mess, no more styrofoam containers - get back to basics is my opinion. I am only 14, but I think if it were my world it would be the World According to Britt. No more fast food unless it's something we can all eat, including the package! (ha, ha)

Boxes and bags are fine, but no plastic containers. My friend, Michelle, organized a can drive at school, and we won. Yeah, we got the most cans collected, and it went toward our class trip and Our Mother of Sorrows school. Michelle's mom, Theresa, is cool like my mom.

Earth-friendly clothes; lets think about that. If you can save a planet and money, too, go for it! Well, anyway, the World According to Britt is a cool place. Wish we could all live here in peace and harmony. God bless and happy recycling...and vegetarians rock!
