Practically all vegetarians in India, including those who call
themselves "pure" vegetarians, include milk and dairy products in
their diets but no other animal products (with the exception of
honey). India can boast only a small number of vegans.
In general, the states of Gujrat, Haryana, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh
are vegetarian. People in states like Himachal Pradesh,
Karnataka, Maharashtra, Manipur, and Utter Pradesh also consume a
condsiderable amount of vegetarian food, although they eat chicken,
mutton, fish and eggs sometimes.
Recipes from the state of Aruncahl Pradesh often contain pork.
In Assam the staple diet is fish & rice. Almost all the dishes in Goa State contains pork and fish as Goa is a coastal state. Kerla State is the worst in India; all kinds of birds are eaten and turtles also. Daily food contains fish there.
