The Secrets for Raw Beauty

By Angel(A)
This article reprinted from Vegetarian Baby & Child Online Magazine

True beauty comes from within. We've all heard this statement many times before, but do we really know what it means? To me it means true beauty comes from what I put into my body. I have been a raw foodist for nine months, and in that time I have become more beautiful than I was before. People who have known me for years ask me, "What have you done? Have you been to the spa or something?" They can't figure it out. Having been a vegan since I was five years old, I always thought that was enough even though I never really felt all that healthy. I now believe this was because my body never got any nutrients or enzymes to feed my cells.

My background in beauty started in 1988. I went to school to become an Aesthetician. I graduated with the highest honors. At that time, a scholarship was being offered by Dr. Fulton (Inventor of Retin A). I won the scholarship and began my training as a Paramedical Aesthetician. After three months of training, I was sent to work in the burn unit. I've never seen such horrors. I wondered after that training if I was in the right occupation! It taught me to experiment, and it gave me courage to work with all people. I tried putting aloe, comfrey, lavender oil, and honey on their burns to comfort them. I couldn't stand to see them suffer! Interestingly, the longer I left it on, the more they experienced relief.

Later, I began working in severe acne unit. To tell you the truth, it wasn't much better, although I learned all the ins and outs of acne: how to use topical medicines, how to do extractions, and more. I was also taught that acne is a genetic disease, and it is not caused by certain foods. I never believed that statement and did everything I could to negate it.

When I was finished my training, I went to work in a small salon that offered skin care. I was allowed to do whatever I wanted, because the owner was open to anything. It was the best job I ever had! I was able to really spread my wings and fly with new ideas. It was during this time that I developed fruit steaming using different fruits for different skin types in combination with a steamer. This process allowed the skin to get the maximum benefit the fruit had to offer while opening the pores and delivering it deep down into the skin cells. It is very rejuvenating to the skin. Back in 1988, people were a bit leery of this kind of thing, and they sometimes wondered if I had fallen off of my rocker! Even so, my fruit steams ended up being such a hit, people lined up for them.

I also began lecturing about how the skin and body works, and I brought juices for my clients to drink after their facials and fruit steams. As a result, the most amazing thing started to happen. People started to look younger without using any creams or fancy lotions. This is why I firmly believe that fruits, used topically and internally, are the key to true beauty. Toxins account for all age spots due to the cellular damage from the inside. Toxins also account for acne, blotches, and discolorations. Cleaning the toxins from our bodies is the most important thing we can do for beauty and for true health.

Not many people realize how many organs play the same role in beauty as they do in your overall health. Your skin is the largest organ in your body; it is designed to keep foreign substances out of the body. Your liver and lungs filter out all the things your body can't use. Your bladder and kidneys filter out excess proteins, vitamins and toxins. Your colon is there to get rid of the waste that is not used by the body. Skin diseases, such as acne, are the result of other cleansing organs being clogged with toxins and less effective at their jobs. When this happens, the skin picks up the slack. Its appearance on the skin is an excellent sign that your body needs a major overhaul.

Over the years, I've worked in the most prestigious spas and put the most expensive creams, masks, potions and lotions on customers' skin only to have them to come back for more because it is only temporary solution. These customers were just as frustrated as before, and they are still aging! Topical creams do not fix these problems. Only detoxifying the body through diet and natural skin care will. I've seen amazing transformations take place once people are open to changing their diets.

My personal routine consists of daily skin cleansings with grapefruit, weekly exfoliation with papaya, and a twice weekly facial mask, and twice daily breathing and nervous system exercises. The mask is a mixture of avocado, garden fresh aloe vera, raw coconut oil, Vitamin C powder, and Methylsulfonylmethane powder (MSM), a naturally-occurring sulfur compound found in cruciferous vegetables. I leave this mixture on my skin for about 10 minutes. During that time, I also enjoy putting sliced kiwis on my eyes and soaking in a hot bath w/ Epsom salt and lavender oil. After each routine, I smooth raw coconut oil on my skin. I also do deep breathing and a nervous system rejuvenation exercise every morning when I get up and every night before bed. This twice daily exercise of purposely taking in oxygen and relaxing helps to beautify the mind, body, and spirit.

I know you can achieve sustainable youth and marvelous beauty with raw fruits (topically and internally) and vegetables. Cantaloupe, grapes, grapefruit, oranges, papaya, and tomatoes are all rich in bioflavonoids, Vitamin C, and glycolic acid. Bioflavonoids work synergistically with Vitamin C to repair tissue. When used topically, glycolic acid exfoliates the skin, carrying away dead, unusable cells and allowing the new cells to come through. Oranges are high in Vitamin C and selenium, antioxidants that protect the cells from free-radical damage, thus preventing premature aging. Parsley and kale are rich in beta carotene. Beta carotene is another antioxidant that also slows the aging process. Avocados are rich in Vitamin E and essential fatty acids making them the ultimate beauty aide. Vitamin E protects the heart and slows aging by aiding tissue repair. Traditionally, herbs such as basil, lavender, and thyme have also been used to slow down the aging process.

The Ultimate Beauty Drink

Amazing Body Rejuvenator Skin Lotion

1 cup all natural, organic sugar
