I watched 20/20 tonight and was outraged. They did a show on PETA and made us all look like crazed lunatics who blow up research labs and protest in front of Burger Kings wearing red paint. It was so unfair that it wasn't even funny. This affects me as a vegan and animal-rights activist. I posted on their message board and right away I was accused of being a terrorist and someone who shoves my beliefs down other peoples' throats all the time. Even my mom, who is a meat-eater and isn't a PETA supporter (she's neutral) thought that it was ridiculous. This is what I posted on the ABC News message board: (Click here to continue)
Kristin, age 18: I thought that it minimized the realities of animal cruelty and made them seem like PETA is overreacting. Unfortunately, I've always believed that PETA could use a good hard shaking. They rank right up there in my mind with the people who picket abortion clinics. They make animal rights activists look silly and misguided. They need a good dose of respectability. If they could only communicate the facts in a mature manner then maybe people would listen. They kinda come off like the Raelians on TV.
