Meat Market by Erik Marcus is a great book. It tells budding activists - and even strong, famous activists - new ideas. For example, he describes the idea of dismantlement, which is the idea that animal agriculture can be eliminated. I cannot begin to describe how this book has inspired me in my new attempts at activism.
This book is nicely divided into four well-organized sections. The introduction describes the gruesome realities of animal agriculture. Part II is a clear analysis of the current state of animal activism. The third section contains essays by guest authors who offer a wealth of experience and practical ideas for hitting the streets and actually doing something to help animals. Finally, Marcus provides detailed responses to hunting, animal testing and more. And of course, there are plenty of resources and footnotes. The best reason to get this book is because it doesn't just tell you what's wrong with animal farming; it tells you what to do about it! Think of Meat Market as a handbook or manual for animal rights activism. Carry it with you and share it with friends!
