Canada's punk rock band Propagandhi is well-known for their political
views. Along with great political songs, this album also includes essays
concerning the injustices in the world in their CD booklet. The issues
covered in the essays are capitalism, religion, animal cruelty, and
oppression of women.
The disc sums up the whole album - it displays an
anarchy sign with the words "anti-fascist, gay-positive, pro-feminist, and
animal-friendly" circling it. The first track ends with "So why not
consider some one else: STOP CONSUMING ANIMALS" which then leads into the
second song of the album which sings the chorus "Meat is still murder.
Dairy is still rape."
The diversity of the songs are suitable for any mood:
some songs are mellow while the others are harder. All the songs
almost border on militant but it's, nonetheless, thought-provoking and
interesting.
Propagandhi is recording this spring, so watch for their new
album and tour late this year!
