I recently received my sample of Amazake Rice Shake to try out and review.
They sent me the flavor Tiger Chai, and personally, I wasn't too psyched to
find this out, since I'm not a fan of chai. I reluctantly continued on and
tried it. Expecting to spit it out right away, I did just the opposite. It
was extremely good. The best way I can describe it is, it tastes like liquid
gingerbread cookies, sooo yummmy. It's made from rice, which surprised me,
because most substitutes made from rice (i.e. milks, ice creams), aren't
that tasty. It's got a nice creamy consistency and isn't too thick.
It also
contains a lot of minerals/vitamins including 60% of RDA of calcium, and 35%
of vitamin B-12, along with others which are key minerals/vitamins most vegans have
trouble getting. I quickly drank the whole bottle (it's only 2 servings) and
it was very filling.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone. Combined with some fruit,
this would be a good, filling breakfast or a snack by itself. I will be
looking for their other flavors in my local whole foods store.
And the review which will appear in the Jan/Feb issue of Vegetarian Baby and Child magazine:
Mmmmm....so creamy and satisfying! Amazake Rice Shakes are perfect for a healthy, vegan snack or meal and will have your entire family running to the refrigerator. Packed with vitamins and minerals, an Amazake shake will give you a balanced energy boost whether you're working out or looking for a healthy, on-the-go meal. Our tasters first sampled Vanilla Gorilla. It was pleasantly sweet with a very creamy texture that kids and adults enjoyed. Made with just a hint of banana, we enjoyed it blended with fruit, on ice, and even right from the 16-ounce jug. Our teen tester described the Tiger Chai flavor as “liquid gingerbread cookies…so yummy!” Amazake makes a variety of other shake flavors, including Gimme Green, and Almond. They also offer pudding, rice nog, and other vegan products. Amazake shakes can be purchased at your local health food store.
