"What do Pringles, Macaroni and Cheese, and Hawaiian Punch have in common? Besides the fact that they taste good, they all contribute to the worst forms of cruelty on this earth..."
A note from Ryan: As a leader of a large animal rights organization (Love All Animals), I have had the opportunity to meet thousands of people interested in the same things as me. People who have the same drive, the same beliefs, and most importantly the same understanding that life is not only important, but it should be respected and treasured. However, some people have the same beliefs but remain on the sidelines, quietly watching others fight the battle they so passionately want to join. Why? Why is it that some people remain silent, and what can we do to urge them and encourage them to speak out?
Every American kills, on average, 83 innocent animals every year by consuming meat. Millions of animals die each year from experimentation, skinning for clothing, and for entertainment causes. With all this terror, and torment, why would anyone stay quiet and not speak out against the most uncompassionate industry in the history of the United States?
When thousands of silent and innocent animals are dying daily, we cannot afford more silence, and we cannot afford anyone sitting on the sidelines, believing that their voice does not matter.
If I could impress one thing on anyone I speak to, it would be the importance of every individual. Stand up for your beliefs; stand up for what you think is right, and speak out against what you feel is wrong. There is never an entirely "right" time when it is OK to be silent. All these silent animals dying each year need a voice. If everyone spoke out and refused to be silent, we would be so much closer to reaching that time, when the silent prevail because of us.
